VIRUS-MVP: A framework for comprehensive surveillance of viral mutations and their functional impacts

🧬 VIRUS-MVP: Viral Mutation Visualization & Profiling Toolkit

VIRUS-MVP is a modular, open-source platform for visualizing, annotating, and interpreting viral genomic variation across diverse sample types and pathogens.

Built to support genomic epidemiology in both research and public health contexts, VIRUS-MVP enables:

  • 🧪 Real-time mutation analysis
  • 🧭 Custom annotation overlays
  • 🔗 Integration with domain-specific metadata

Current support includes SARS-CoV-2 and Mpox, with workflows and visualizations in development for RSV and Influenza.

🔧 Built for Flexibility and Adaptability

VIRUS-MVP is not just a dashboard—it is a flexible, extensible toolkit that can be tailored to any virus with a reference genome and annotation data.
Components can run independently or together through an integrated web interface.

To support this, we offer a
“How to Adapt to Another Virus”
guide. We continue to expand support for new pathogens via open development branches and community feedback.

🤝 Join the Community

We invite researchers, analysts, and public health professionals to explore, adapt, and contribute to the VIRUS-MVP ecosystem. Whether you’re monitoring outbreaks, analyzing wastewater, or curating annotations, VIRUS-MVP offers a robust, FAIR-aligned framework.
